1、 Understand common filter materials and their characteristics


Stainless steel: The filter element made of stainless steel has superior performance, can withstand high temperature, corrosion, and high pressure, and is suitable for use in harsh environments. Filter cartridges made of this material typically have high durability and stability.


Plastic: Plastic filter cartridges have lower costs, but compared to stainless steel filter cartridges, their high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance are relatively poor. Plastic filter cartridges are often used in situations where high cost is required.


Ceramic: Ceramic filter cartridges have the characteristics of high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, as well as high filtration accuracy, which can effectively remove small particles and impurities from water. However, ceramic filter cartridges are relatively fragile, so it is important to avoid collisions when using them.


Alloy: The alloy filter element combines the advantages of multiple metals, with high strength, corrosion resistance and other characteristics, suitable for filtering needs in some special environments.


PP (polypropylene): PP filter cartridge is one of the common filtering materials in the market, with a lower price but a relatively short service life. It is mainly used to intercept large particles such as sediment and rust in water.


Activated carbon: Activated carbon filters are known for their strong adsorption capacity, which can effectively remove organic substances such as odors and residual chlorine from water. However, activated carbon filters have poor filtration efficiency for small particles and suspended solids.


RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane): RO membrane is currently one of the most widely used water purification technologies, with extremely high filtration accuracy. It can remove harmful substances such as bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, etc. from water and produce purified water. But the price of RO membrane is relatively high and requires regular replacement.


2、 Select appropriate filtering materials based on filtering requirements


Water source situation: If the water quality of the water source is poor and contains a lot of impurities and harmful substances, it is recommended to choose filter materials with high filtration accuracy and long service life, such as stainless steel, ceramics, or RO membranes.


Usage requirements:


If you need to drink purified water, it is recommended to choose an RO membrane filter or a composite filter with activated carbon, PP cotton or other primary filters.


If you only need to filter out large particles such as sediment and rust in water, you can choose PP filter or ultrafiltration filter.


Budget: The prices of filter cartridges made of different materials vary greatly, so it is necessary to choose the appropriate filter cartridge according to one's own budget. For example, PP filter cartridges have a lower price but a shorter lifespan, making them suitable for users with limited budgets; Although RO membrane filters are expensive, they have good and stable filtration effects, making them suitable for users with high water quality requirements.


3、 Consider other factors


The maintenance cost of the filter element includes the cost of replacing the filter element and the maintenance cost of the filter element. Some filter cartridges may have lower initial purchase costs but require frequent replacement or complex maintenance; Some high-end filter cartridges, although expensive, have a long service life and are easy to maintain.


Brand and Certification: Choosing filter products from well-known brands that have passed relevant certifications can ensure the quality and performance of the products with greater assurance.


Installation and after-sales service: Considering the convenience of installing the filter element and the quality of after-sales service are also important factors that cannot be ignored when choosing a filter element.
