How to store common filter cartridges

The storage methods for common filter cartridges vary depending on the type, material, and usage environment of the filter cartridge, but generally speaking, the following basic principles can be followed for storage:


Storage method for unused filter cartridges


Keep packaging intact: Unused filter elements should not be unpacked to maintain their original state and cleanliness.


Suitable temperature environment: It is best to store the filter element at a low temperature of 5-10 ℃ to extend its service life. When stored in an environment with a temperature exceeding 10 ℃, a well ventilated place should be selected and direct sunlight should be avoided. The storage temperature should not exceed 35 ℃.


Moisture and mold prevention: The filter element should be protected from moisture and mold, so the storage environment should be kept dry.


Dust protection: For filter cartridges that are not used for a long time, it is recommended to store them in dust-proof bags or containers to prevent dust and bacterial contamination.


Storage method for filter cartridges in use


Short term shutdown or maintenance: If the filter element needs short-term shutdown or maintenance during use, it can be washed clean and stored in a dry and ventilated place, and the water should be changed every 1-2 days to keep it moist.


Long term disuse: For filter cartridges that are not used for a long time, they should be thoroughly rinsed and dried. You can use a low-temperature drying oven to dry at around 38-42 ℃ for 24-48 hours, then take it out and store it in a protective bag after cooling. When storing, choose a dark and dry place to prevent the filter element from getting damp, moldy, or being contaminated by other factors.


Storage methods for special filter cartridges


Sterilization filter element: For the filter element used for sterilization, if there are nutrients required for bacterial growth in the feed solution, the filter element must be backwashed and sterilized immediately after a batch of feed is completed, and then soaked in pure water to wait for the next batch of feed solution to be filtered.


Filter cartridge for filtering protein solutions: For filter cartridges containing protein solutions, the temperature should not be too high during cleaning to avoid blocking the membrane pores due to protein coagulation. After cleaning, injection water can be injected and stored in a stainless steel filter cartridge, while maintaining a certain pressure.


Avoid direct sunlight: Whether the filter element is unused or in use, it should be avoided from direct sunlight to prevent the filter element material from aging.


Regular inspection: For filter cartridges that have been stored for a long time, their condition should be checked regularly. If there is any mold or deterioration, it should be dealt with in a timely manner.


Follow the product manual: Different brands and types of filters may have different storage requirements, so carefully read the product manual and follow its guidance before storage.


The storage methods for common filter cartridges mentioned above need to be determined based on the actual situation and usage requirements of the filter cartridge. However, in general, they should be kept in a dry, ventilated, dark, and dust-proof environment, and stored in accordance with the requirements of the product manual.
