The principle of filter element filtration is mainly based on physical or chemical reactions, which filter and separate impurities, bacteria, viruses, organic matter, metal ions and other pollutants in water to improve the purity and safety of water quality. The following are the filtration principles of several common filter cartridges:


Physical filtering:


Fiber filter: Using porous fiber materials, it removes suspended solids, sediment, rust and other particulate matter in water through physical interception. The pore size can be adjusted as needed, usually divided into two types: coarse filtration and fine filtration. Coarse filtration is used to remove impurities from larger particles, while fine filtration can remove smaller particles.


Ultrafiltration membrane filter: Using nanoscale pore structure, it removes organic substances such as microorganisms and viruses from water through physical exclusion and screening. The pore size of ultrafiltration membranes is usually 0.01-0.1 microns, which can block most small particles and organisms while retaining minerals and beneficial elements in water.


Chemical adsorption:


Activated carbon filter: mainly made of high activated carbon, it removes organic compounds, odors, residual chlorine and other substances in water through adsorption. Activated carbon has strong surface porosity and a large specific surface area, which can provide more adsorption sites and effectively adsorb and remove pollutants from water.


Microbial purification:


Some high-end filters also have antibacterial functions, which can effectively kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms through specific antibacterial materials or technologies, thereby providing safer and purer drinking water.


In practical applications, the filtration effect of filter cartridges is often not the result of a single principle, but a comprehensive manifestation of multiple principles. For example, a water purifier may use multiple methods such as physical filtration, chemical adsorption, and microbial purification to ensure a comprehensive improvement in water quality.


In addition, it should be noted that the filtration effect and service life of the filter element will be affected by various factors, including water quality, frequency of use, maintenance, etc. Therefore, when using the filter element, it should be regularly inspected and replaced to ensure its continuous and effective filtration of water quality. At the same time, when selecting filter cartridges, reasonable choices should also be made based on actual needs and water quality conditions to achieve the best filtration effect.
