There are various filtration methods for commonly used drinking water, which aim to remove impurities, harmful substances, and microorganisms from the water to improve water quality and ensure drinking water safety. Here are some common methods for filtering drinking water:

1. Pre filter

Function: As the first gateway for household health water, it mainly filters large particles of impurities such as sediment, rust, gum, and insect eggs in water quality.

Installation location: Generally installed after the household water meter, it is the first filtration device for household water use.

Structure: It is mostly a T-shaped structure, with horizontally connected inlet and outlet ports on the left and right ends at the top, a vertical device consisting of the body and internal cylindrical filter screen at the bottom, and a sewage outlet at the bottom.

Operation: Control the opening and closing of the sewage outlet through valves.

2. Kitchen water purifier

Function: A water purification device specifically designed for kitchens, capable of further removing small impurities, bacteria, viruses, etc. from water.

Installation position: Generally installed in the cabinet below the sink.

Filtering method: Water flows into the water purifier through an external water pipe, and is filtered through multiple layers of filters such as PP cotton, activated carbon, post activated carbon, and ultrafiltration membrane before use.

Characteristic: The filtered water can be consumed directly, but the filter element needs to be replaced regularly.

3. Softener

Function: Reduce the content of calcium and magnesium ions in water and minimize the formation of scale.

Principle: Use regenerated sodium resin to replace calcium and magnesium ions in water.

Usage scenario: Mainly used to protect water facilities such as washing machines, water heaters, etc., but generally not for direct drinking use.

4. Filter kettle

Function: Filter water quality through a small filter element.

Features: The filter cartridge can generally last for about a month and is suitable for use in households with a small population, making it more convenient.

5. Other filtering methods

Precipitation filtration method: Let the water settle for a period of time to allow impurities to naturally settle to the bottom, and then extract the upper layer of clean water.

Ultraviolet sterilization method: Use ultraviolet sterilizers to kill bacteria and viruses in water.

Reverse osmosis filtration method: using high pressure to pass water through a semi permeable membrane filter, removing most of the ions, bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms in the water, and obtaining high-quality purified water. But the equipment and maintenance costs are relatively high.
